Monday

Monday, November 20 - Worship and Witness

Psalm 96:1-3

We respond to God’s love in our lives by giving thanks and offering praise. The opening verses of Psalm 96 are about singing praises to God. Singing praises and blessing God’s name are ways we share our faith with others.

Worship: How can your daily life be an offering of praise to God? How can that offering be a witness to the world of God’s love? Today, offer each moment as a moment of praise. Repeat the verses of Psalm 96 as worship “Sing to the Lord. Bless his name. Share the news of his saving work!

Prayer: Today, I offer my life as a song of praise. May my actions bear witness to your love in my life, Lord. Amen.

Tuesday

Tuesday, November 21 - Reconciled to Share

2 Corinthians 5:18-21

As Paul teaches the Corinthians about faith in this letter he reminds them that through God’s love their sins are forgiven. This forgiveness leads to a right relationship, or reconciliation, with God and others. When we live as reconciled people God’s love and grace are reflected in our lives.

Grow: Each day offers us an opportunity to grow in faith, recognize and accept God’s love in our lives. Reading the GPS, participating in a Bible study, and reading your Bible daily are just a few ways you can grow in faith. Make a plan to share the ways you are growing in faith with your family, friends or at church. How can they join you in your faith?

Prayer: Thank you God for coming to us through Jesus Christ and offering us reconciliation and grace. Guide me in sharing that grace with others. Amen.

Wednesday

Wednesday, November 22 - Serving Others to Witness God’s Love

Acts 1:1-8

The opening verses of Acts give us a glimpse into how Jesus revealed himself to his disciples. Through many signs and proofs they came to know that Jesus was truly alive. As Jesus taught them and ate with them he shared with them the promise of the Holy Spirit. He also instructed them to share the message of God’s love, telling them they would be Jesus’ witnesses to the world. The disciples had many questions, but Jesus promised that in sharing the Good News to others they would know more of God’s love.

Serve: We continue to believe in this promise today. As we serve others we learn about God’s love. When we share our faith we see God’s love reflected in others. Today is the day before Thanksgiving, find small ways to help others out today, and share God’s love.

Prayer: God, in the life of Jesus, we learn that you call us to share your love. Let my acts of kindness and service share your love with others. Amen.

Thursday

Thursday, November 23 - Giving Up Everything for the Good News

Matthew 4:18-20

As Jesus walks along the Sea of Galilee he invites fishermen to join him in sharing the Good News of the Gospel. They drop their nets and follow Jesus. They gave up their livelihood to follow Jesus and share the Good News with others.

Give: Today, on Thanksgiving, as you consider the things you're grateful for, wonder about what things are weighing you down. What things can you give up to God so you can be freed to love God more? What can you offer God today?

Prayer: Jesus, I hear you calling me to drop my nets. Reveal the things that bind me today and free to love you more fully.

Friday

Friday, November 24 - God Chooses You

Isaiah 43:10

If you have the time, read all of Isaiah 43 - The lines that lead to verse 10 appear as a courtroom scene witnesses are called to testify to the nations about God. God chooses us to share the news of love and grace with the world. How do your actions reflect who God is and how God loves you?

Give: Imagine the courtroom scene image from Isaiah 43:9-10. The nations are gathered to learn about God. What in your life story testifies to God’s love? Who have you shared these stories with? How were your stories received? Consider who you might share the story of God’s love in your life with.

Prayer: God, you call me by name to tell the story of your love. May your Holy Spirit be on me and inspire me to share words of faith with those I meet. Amen.
